About the film

The Yukon attracts tourists from all over the world, but for some this visit is a life changing experience. Mesmerized by the pristine beauty and vast wilderness, Canada’s Northwest territory becomes their Promised Land.

The Call of the Yukon features three intimate portraits of adventurous German speaking immigrants who, tired of orderly and overcrowded Europe, have settled in the Yukon, to live their dreams of freedom, individualism, and adventure.

Their stories are as colourful and diverse as are their reasons to leave family and friends behind in their homeland. It was a tough decision to make, but once they breathed the Yukon air they were spellbound, despite many hardships and dangers.
